Responsible for assisting the Supervisor and Lead in the fabrication of high-quality tooling for the forming, fabrication, and assembly of aircraft parts following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals. Essential Job Functions: Fabricate structural components of assembly fixtures, rivet jigs, route fixtures, templates, drill jigs, and holding fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications. TIG weld steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Set up and operate machine tools such as saw, jig, die, drill press, grinder, and hand tools to machine part and verify conformance of tooled part to specifications Perform precision cutting, grinding, and fitting operations to tight tolerances on materials like aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Perform routine maintenance tasks on tools and equipment. Maintain accurate records of tooling activities and materials usage. Assist production with critical structural repairs for non-conforming parts/assemblies following instructions from engineering dispositions. Provide assistance when required during new product development, design, build and testing. This may periodically involve augmenting Experimental Flight Test Department in a variety of capacities in order to achieve critical program milestones. Inspect fabricated tools for quality and accuracy. Able to assist teammates on machine set-up and calibrations Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose tooling issues. Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Maintain departmental compliance with Piper QAM/QIM, AS9100, and FAA requirements. Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs. Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity. Strong mechanical aptitude Good manual dexterity and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Must be able to pass required weld certification per AWS D17.1 and AWS D1.1. Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
